Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated openings for a Part-Time Environmental Stewardship Internship.
The Center for Environmental Studies (CES) at Raritan Valley Community College is looking for seasonal interns to assist with various activities related to environmental stewardship on campus and on public open space in New Jersey in the Summer of 2021. Interns will primarily assist with the installation and maintenance of deer exclosures, removal of invasive plant species, tree planting, trail mapping and maintenance, native plant propagation and greenhouse work, and collection of monitoring data. Participation in related activities with other projects at the CES may be available depending upon intern interest and abilities.
Duration and Compensation:
This will be a minimum ten week internship from now through July 31, 2021, with optional participation available beyond those dates. Interns are expected to work one to two full days per week, depending upon availability and funding limitations. Interns will be paid $15 per hour and are responsible for their own transportation.
Requirements:
Current RVCC student in good academic standing, or recent alumnus
Interest and/or experience in ecology/conservation field work
Proficiency with MS Excel preferred
Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors under varying weather conditions for 6-8 hours/day.
Plant and/or animal identification skills
Interpersonal communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to work independently and in teams
Must have personal transportation and be willing to drive up to 1-2 hours to field sites as needed
