Job Description: Medical Assistant/Patient Care Specialist

Requirements: The selected candidate must meet the following criteria

  • Proficient experience in performing electrocardiograms (EKG) and measuring vital signs.
  • 2 years of experience in practicing as a Medical Assistant or Patient Care Specialist in a clinical setting.

Medical Assistant Responsibilities: Medical Assistants are required to complete the following but are not limited to:

  • Proficient in doing EKGs, Blood Pressure Reading and Vision Screening/Testing (willing to train).
  • Legible handwriting skills.
  • Assist the nursing staff and medical team.
  • Maintain a safe and effective functioning environment.|
  • Use electronic medical record applications.
  • Answer telephones and faxes and greet patients.
  • Health Promotion Communication skills.
  • Update charts, file patient medical records, code, maintain procedures.
  • Aspects of medical care and charting will be under the supervision of the Health Care Facility's Registered Nurse.
  • Scheduling appointments.
  • Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; and arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Inventory control, planning, and dependability.
  • The contractor shall make its employees available to the department as witnesses if a party challenging a medical test commences any litigation.
